    Employment Type

Fixed Income, Currency, and Commodities (FICC) Technology plays a key role in the firm’s ability to help institutional clients buy and sell financial instruments on liquidity venues around the world, an important revenue driver for the firm. In FICC Technology we use both open source industry standard and internal proprietary technologies to build cutting edge platforms for pricing, execution, and control over each of these millions of transactions.

    What We Do

ION Engineering is a newly formed team with a mandate to design and build applications to power market making and risk management for standardized products in FICC.

FICC is a large and important business for Goldman Sachs, and substantial revenues for the firm are generated by FICC market making activity.  Market making and risk management are highly dynamic and computationally demanding; the systems underpinning these activities must be robust and high performance.

ION Engineering meets this challenge by designing systems and applications from the ground-up and taking responsibility for the full application software stack. FICC is active in both electronic and OTC markets, with a product mix that includes interest rates, credit, foreign exchange, commodities, mortgages, loans, and their derivatives.

    Who We Look For

Goldman Sachs Engineers are innovators and problem-solvers, building solutions in risk management, big data, mobile and more. We look for creative collaborators who evolve, adapt to change and thrive in a fast-paced global environment.

    Your Impact

As a member of the ION Engineering team you will directly partner with key salespeople, traders, and business stakeholders to design, build, deploy and monitor critical market making and risk management systems.  You will have significant responsibility and accountability for the stability, performance, support, and ultimately the impact of the systems we design and build.

    What We Look For

Effectively meeting the demands of our challenging mandate requires a passion for learning as well as deep understanding and experience across a wide array of technical competencies.  While there is not a set formula for success in this environment, we find the following tend to be indispensable:

    • A BS degree or better in Computer Science or a related discipline.
    • Excellent experience in a strongly typed language.
    • Expert in technical discipline or application tier, e.g. Front End, Back End, DevOps, etc.
    • Competence across other key application tiers, i.e. you can write JS even if you mostly work in Java.
    • Experience collaborating in global teams.
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ‘Client Touch’.
