    Our division prevents, detects and mitigates compliance, regulatory and reputational risk across the firm and helps to strengthen the firm’s culture of compliance. Compliance accomplishes these through the firm’s enterprise-wide compliance risk management program. As an independent control function and part of the firm’s second line of defense, Compliance assesses the firm’s compliance, regulatory and reputational risk; monitors for compliance with new or amended laws, rules and regulations; designs and implements controls, policies, procedures and training; conducts independent testing; investigates, surveils and monitors for compliance risks and breaches; and leads the firm’s responses to regulatory examinations, audits and inquiries. You'll be part of a team with members from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds, such as law, accounting, sales, and trading. We look for those who possess sound judgment, curiosity, and are able to adapt to a changing regulatory landscape. 


    Business Unit Overview: The Consumer Compliance team, generally, provides compliance coverage and support to the Firm and establishes the framework for identifying, assessing, controlling, measuring, monitoring and reporting compliance risks across the Consumer and Investment Management Division (CIMD). Consumer Compliance is an independent control function that reports to the head of Consumer Compliance, a group within GS Global Compliance. The primary objective of Consumer Compliance is the management of compliance risk by assisting Bank businesses in complying with laws, regulations and internal policies and procedures. The objective is executed through a comprehensive program that includes policies and procedures, risk assessments, surveillance, monitoring and testing, training, and management reporting.


    Consumer Compliance Overview: Consumer Compliance has a presence in New York and London, with UK coverage soon to expand to our office in Milton Keynes. The focus of Consumer Compliance is the identification, analysis, assessment and mitigation of risk as it relates to consumer regulation and law, and its interconnection with transactions that Goldman Sachs is party to in any number of capacities. Consumer Compliance works closely with GS Legal, outside counsel and other advisors to help frame and ascertain the transaction / risk in terms of the relevance and application of jurisdiction and product specific regulations. In addition, Consumer Compliance will also act as a key stakeholder in the build and ongoing management of CIMD's online deposit platform in EMEA. This particular role, within the EMEA Consumer Compliance team, will focus on:

    • Providing Compliance oversight to the Firm's digital finance offering in EMEA and assisting the development of a compliance management system to address the applicable regulatory requirements and risk of deposit taking and other digitally offered consumer financial products 
    • Ensuring appropriate controls are in place during the customer journey to ensure compliance with any relevant consumer and data protection regulations
    • Actively partnering with other stakeholders on the current and future development of the platform 
    • Conducting reviews of disclosure, marketing, policies and procedures
    • Evaluating potential third parties consultants to build a scalable team with the relevant expertise
    • Being able to communicate professionally and regularly with leadership and peers on status, milestones, and issues
    • Provide advisory support on regulation and in particular Payment Services Regulations

    • Minimum - Bachelor's Degree (further qualifications preferred)
    • At least 1 - 3 years of prior experience in compliance, legal, regulation or related business side experience in consumer finance, preference given to individuals with consumer retail compliance experience within a start-up / fin-tech or specialty finance environment
    • Knowledge and familiarity with the European regulatory environment, and understanding of regulatory frameworks in various jurisdictions
    • Experience within a compliance role relating to Consumer Banking Operations / Complaint Handling
