    RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

    FICC SMM is a cross-asset systematic market making business covering FX, commodities, interest rates, and credit. As an automated trading business, SMM manages the financial as well as operational risks inherent in this endeavor. We are looking for a strat to work in Research Engineering which is a cross-asset team that builds systematic signals that inform trading activities throughout the SMM group and beyond. Depending on the candidate, this could be a position as a researcher developing and delivering signals or as a platform engineer with a focus on building a world-class platform for the research, development and deployment of algorithmic strategies.

     

    Principal Responsibilities

    • Building and maintaining the platform for researching and deploying signals.
    • Generate ideas for strategies that will add value to pricing and risk-management across asset classes.
    • Build, test and deploy those strategies in a fast-paced production environment.
    • Manage the operational risks inherent in a fast-moving automated trading business.
    • Work constructively in collaboration with other team members across business lines and across multiple regions.
    • Work productively with people outside the electronic trading business, e.g. other traders, strats and engineers in the firm.
    • Understand the regulatory and supervisory environment and demonstrate ownership of our obligations and responsibilities under this.

    Experience/Skills

    • Proven ability to analyze data and draw useful commercial conclusions.
    • Track record of development in real-time algorithmic systems.
    • Strong software engineering background
    • Familiarity with Java and Python
      • Preferred for a signals research! candidate
      • Essential for a pure engineering candidate
      • Ability to communicate and work collaboratively within their own team and with other parts of the firm, e.g. voice trading, other technology teams and functions like economic research which have varying levels of technical knowledge.
      • Demonstrated understanding of and engineering of a safe operating environment, particularly regarding the control environment around electronic trading.
      • (For TWCs) Track-record of successful management of operational and market risk, or for people new to trading, a sound understanding of the challenges and required behaviours associated with a trading role. ​
