The position available is with the Equities Operations team. The Equities Operations team performs a range of daily control functions designed to ensure booking accuracy and integrity of books and records. Additionally, the team takes care of the post-allocation flow which includes pre-matching, fails management and reconciliations. Key stakeholders and interactions will be with GS Trading and Sales Desks, Client Middle Office, Engineering, Legal, Compliance and external counterparties.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

The following tasks give an overview of what is required day to day:

 

  • Brazil cash equities trading support - trade confirmation, allocation, pre-match, financial settlement, pre and post-settlement reconciliations. 
  • To facilitate and ensure trade confirmations are sent to clients on completion of allocation process to confirm all trade economics
  • Effective pre-matching & fails management tasks to ensure timely settlement of trades with counterparties
  • Delivering transactions in agreed timeframes, as per SLA’s whilst improving quality of processing and reducing errors.
  • Process payments, journals and securities movements in accordance with Firm guidelines
  • Monitoring and resolving trade management exceptions by interacting with clients, brokers & other Ops teams
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders – Business, Engineering, and Client Middle Office. Actively engage, partner and drive changes, provide excellent service and support
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies of positions (cash and securities) in the firm’s books and records
  • Demonstrate effective client service by dealing with client queries with utmost sensitivity & urgency
  • Effective escalation on critical & high value breaks to senior management
  • Provide technical expertise related to the implementation of new processes, global consistency, risk management, efficiency, and technology convergence initiatives among other projects
  • Completing and overseeing daily checklist ensuring all controls, procedures and processes relating to the assigned functions are followed
  • Responsible for real-time risk monitoring of cash equities executions and pro-active escalation.

In addition, the team focusses heavily on continuous process improvement and automation.  This is done through partnerships with internal stakeholders with the aim of encouraging adoption of industry best practices in relation to ‘straight through processing’ and thus improving our automation rates.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Work experience in a Securities Middle Office, Trade Settlement, Back Office functions, Trade Support for 4 to 6 years
  • Equities Industry and market knowledge is required
  • Fluent English
  • Proven analytical skills, problem solving ability, and a control mentality/attention to details
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, organized and able to prioritize effectively. Accountable for projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • PQO Backoffice Certification – B3
